The revived Village Show was everything we hoped for. After so long a break it seemed like a bit of a gamble, but as Show Secretary I was delighted when the entries came pouring in towards the end of the week before the event. In the end we had a very creditable 332 entries (317 actually exhibited) and the hall looked very full and attractive with the new emphasis on flowers, and the handicrafts section in particular was a showcase of village and Club talent. The attendance by the public was well up to previous years’ numbers, so I think we have successfully re-established this as a community event. There was a respectable number of junior entries, which was also encouraging, something to build on in the future. I would like to pay tribute to the hard work of the Show subcommittee, and the Gardening Club committee and other helpers, which contributed so much to the day’s success.
