NFEST has come a long way since its humble origins in 1995, with bands performing on an open-sided farmer’s trailer and musicians and crowd at the mercy of the elements. Today our signature marquee makes for a brilliant environment for performers and audience alike rain or shine, and the two-stage set up allows for continuous live music well into the evening.
As well as the acts gracing the stages, NFEST’s community ethos remains rock solid thanks to the continued involvement and support of the local Scouts, Church Group and Pre-School, running catering and activities for music lovers and local families across the weekend.
Vital support has also been secured from local businesses, including St Ives-based estate agents WellingtonWise becoming the Festival’s first ever headline sponsors.
Entry to the Festival remains free of charge for all, but voluntary donations are encouraged to help the Village Hall Trust – the registered charity behind NFEST – maintain the building for use by many local community groups, all year around.
After an incredibly tough time for live music and of course for many village residents, organisers hope NFEST is, and will remain, a unifying and memorable celebration for all.
“We always start with the music” says NFEST Committee Chair, Noel Glass “but the real story of NFEST is all of the individuals and groups that get involved to help make it happen – the amazing community groups who help us run NFEST, our Festival volunteers and our wonderful performers – who give their time and talents for nothing – all help us keep the Festival free to all and grounded in the community. The 2021 event was particularly challenging to organise of course, but the fantastic support of local businesses and flexibility of our suppliers really blew us away. It was a great weekend, and a brilliant way to mark our first 25 years.”
Fancy getting involved?! We welcome new volunteers. The Committee meets monthly or you can just as valuably help on the weekend itself with things like stage set up, bar work, first aid etc.
